About The Valley Voices Volunteers

We, the volunteers, want to introduce you to The Valley Voice – a new online weekly magazine by and for the residents of the
Columbia Valley, BC.

The Valley Voice is the only publication in the Columbia Valley made by the people, for the people. There are no business, politicians, or governing bodies providing any monetary contributions or having any influence whatsoever. We look forward to giving the residents and returning visitors of the valley a place to be seen and heard. We aim to strengthen our community ever further!

We chose an online platform to reduce costs. This allows us to offer an amazing community driven publication without charging you, the readers and advertisers.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to providing a safe space for all the many voices of the valley to share their activities, concerns, businesses, promotions, congratulations and more.

Our Vision

A space where residents, entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations can come together to share all the things that are important to them, without worrying about increasing costs, biased censorship, or political influence.

Our Story

How We Got Started

The core group of volunteers came together over a NEED – the need for an unbiased, unmonetized news source that properly represented the residents of the Columbia Valley.

With the rise of advertising costs of traditional publishers and platforms, and the pay-to-play attitude driving what we see and when, we needed something better. We should not have to pay to communicate – especially in a world post-COVID.

That’s why we decided to do this. To throw in time, money, and energy into creating a publication we can all be proud of. Something we KNOW won’t take heat for political smear campaigns. Something we know will share our voice without nickel and diming for each bolded word.

Who ARE You?

Our faces don’t matter. Our names are not important. What’s important is bringing you all the news from all the corners of the Valley. This allows us to be as unbiased as possible.

Due to the nature of the work we do, there are certain situations where we need to send out representatives into the community. In those instances, we send out third party individuals to act on our behalf who have completed appropriate NDA documentation. These individuals are not part of the core team of volunteers nor can they provide insight as to who we are if asked.

 We Don’t Want Your Money

We get it, you’re a business owner and you want to pay to get your ad in front of folks bigger and better than your competitors. That’s nice.

That’s not how we do things. If you want MORE exposure than the FREE QUARTER PAGE BUSINESS AD you already get, here are some options:

To obtain a full-page placement – donate a product or service for giveaway through the Valley Voice. Help us give back to the readers and we will help place you. Though, we will likely reserve this to one per issue. Businesses can choose to host more than one giveaway through Valley Voices to obtain additional feature pages.

For a full-page food review – we will ask you to provide the meal set you want tasted, at no charge, to our public food writer. (One of 3 front facing volunteer positions through the Valley Voice where anonymity is not always possible.) You will be notified when to expect the critic and they will introduce themselves. Once the meal has been completed, you can expect a full-page review, complete with photography of your food, to appear in a future issue.

To get on the cover – this one is really easy… take the best photo. If the best photo has been submitted by a business, it’s the business who will be credited on the front page.
