Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 (16-inch) pita bread
1/4 cup diced tomato
1/4 cup diced onion
1 head of lettuce
Tzatziki Sauce:
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 medium cucumber, peeled and grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, basil, thyme, black pepper, salt, sugar, white wine vinegar, and evaporated milk.
Shape the mixture into a cylinder and place it on a baking sheet.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
In a separate bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper to make the tzatziki sauce.
Warm the pita bread in the oven or on a stove top griddle.
To assemble the donair, slice the beef and place it inside the pita bread.
Top with diced tomato, diced onion, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce.
